Are you a REFLECTION of your friends?

I touched on this slightly in yesterday's email

And I also received a reply from a subscriber asking if I would elaborate on my point about 'you are the average of the 5 closest friends you have'

So here you have it

I can't quite remember where I first seen this quote, but it is by world famous motivational speaker Jim Rohn

"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with"

Coming to think of it I think it was from the 'Think and Grow Rich Classic book' - you should check this book out by the way

Think about this for a minute.

Who do you spend the majority of your time with?

Friends?

Family?

Work colleague's?

Team Mates?

WeightLovers and anything else in the diet bracket that's creating an unhealthy version of you :)

Gym friends?

Let me give a few very simple examples so you can understand this (you're probably oblivious to most of this as well)

Have you ever noticed how when you are with friends you both just click.

You have this something in common.

You speak a different language, well something completely different to that if you were at work

You both understand and are probably the only two people that get your own gestures

Or facial expressions

If you're anything like me and that you have several different kind of friends you'll act  very differently around each of these

Like with some friends I would drink a pint

And with others I'll have a glass of wine

Or I'll speak a bit of street "oh ye maaann, how is it at the yard?"

And on the flip side it'll be more like "Did you have a pleasant afternoon today"

You know what I mean right?

I can see you shaking your head in agreement :)

Good, we're on the same page.

What about mirroring...

Have you ever noticed this?

When someone yawns. You yawn.

What about when someone picks up a glass to have a drink, you automatically do the same

This is you working on a very subconscious level

Most of the time you are unaware of it

Well, if it can happen in very simple ways like above

It will also eventually influence you in other ways.

Like, do you think hanging around with poor people, you'll likely be poor

Do the math... what is the average salary of your closest friends?

Does yours match it?

But you find yourself always complaining about wanting more money.

What about the average dress size or weight of your friends?

Are you a similar dress size/weight but you always complain about your weight.

Probably the worst of them all... do you find yourself complaining a lot, or being negative towards other people or anything you can be

Well, what are your average friends like, are they the same.

You probably witnessed it the other day, negative people commenting on my email about the size 16 mannequin...

I'd bet a million quid that there friends are all the same

Complain that they have no time to take a up a fitness regime or go on a diet but they have plenty of time to search

Facebook an be negative towards other people

I seen this quote yesterday

"everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves"
Powerful right?

Yes, I agree, my Buddha friend that I told you about the other day, that found me, he said that.

Its like they get a kick out of it

Do you know what I do?

I delete them

You should do too

I love this saying

"birds of a feather, flock together"

Have I got you thinking now?

I hope so.

That was the intention of the email.

Now, what you go and do about it, is totally up to you.

If you want help with this then you should stop by our gym tomorrow and take part in our FREE workshop - its free to
register, absolutely no cost, but registration is 100% required.

You get me for 1 hour working on finding YOU again

Now back to my points above.

Here's what I do

I delete negative people out of my life - I came to the conclusion that I cannot help everyone

I regularly challenge myself to be round MORE successful people than me

I love the fact that when I feel the dumbest in the room im at peace with myself because the only thing I can do is grow

My friends are not un healthy, they do care about their health and well being, however I once had  friends that did drugs and didn't give a sh?t

I choose what members we have at RWL - I don't just take anyone with a pulse and purse like your mainstream gyms (majority of these members are not committed about getting results... its actually my number one core value #results focused.. do you think I and this member would get on?)

I left an estate in Leicester that probably has the worst crime rate - i think the worst crime I did was knock a door run (I was never built to be a bad ass :) ) actually thinking of it I nearly set my friend on fire ... Stefan if you're reading this, sorry man!

I choose to read/listen to only educational, biographies and fictional stuff - I don't read the newspaper or listen to the news including the radio - though I'd recommend you listen to the radio today because I am on it (BBC Radio Leicester,
and Capital FM.... Er... im in the Leicester Mercury also)

Side note, if you want proof that we don't have any cardio machines then take a look at the picture in the Leicester Mercury.

Sorry I love a bit of a gloat!

Please forgive me

There are so many things I do that I cannot even remember,  please ask me when you get the chance.

Tell you what, why don't you hit reply with a situation that you find yourself in and I'll help you escape that.

So the take home message today is...

Drum roll please...

If where you are now is not the place you want to be, then look at your closest five friends - they are a reflection of you.

Joe 'whilst you Zig, I Zag' Hanney

Ps- what 5 friends would you choose to have dinner with if you could choose anyone in the world.

You share yours, and I'll share mine.

They can be celebrities, Royalty, People that are not alive, Sporting Icons, Movie stars, the Man from the shop corner... whoever

Tell me who you would choose.
